2024 11 28 | District Governor Marjolein Lloyd & Welcoming New Member Keith Currie

Today was a busy but exciting day for the VSSRotary club. We had the honor of being visited by District Governor Morjolein Lloyd (pr: Maar-o-leen) who shared with us her vision for the future and how it intersects with Rotary International President Gord MacInally's theme of "Create Hope in the World." It reinforced the premise that making the world better by giving each person we meet hope of a better future is something we can each do, day in and day out.

She also introduced the club to Archie M. Klumpf, our garden gnome fellow Rotarian who has now become a Paul Harris Fellow thanks to the kind donations of many Rotarians who have opposable thumbs and can therefore, move money from their bank accounts to the Rotary Foundation in Archie's name.

Marjolein, Calvin, and our star... Archie

Marjolein also made a point of reminding members of all that District 5060 has to offer members. She highlighted the resource directory on the Rotary5060.org website. And reminded us all that the next District conference will be May 2-5 in Penticton.

We also had the honor of swearing-in a new member to our club, Keith Currie. Keith was a former Rotarian and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the RI family as a member of our Vernon Silver Star club. Keith is the Publisher of the Vernon MorningStar paper, and an active member of the community. He has already been a great supporter of various projects and initiatives of the club, and we know he will be a valuable and ongoing contributor to our efforts.
