2021 11 16 | Host: Dave Weatherill | Eric Gombrich's Community Survey Results
Nov 16, 2021
VSSRotary member Eric Gombrich presented the results of our recent “external” Communication Survey, intended to find out how folks in the greater Vernon and North Okanagan areas get their information, what’s important to them, & to assess our club’s presence in their minds. The intent is to increase membership, & our presence in the community.
74 responses were received, 2/3 of which were from females, strongly representing ages 30 to 60. Top interests among respondents were
- health & wellness
- time with family & friends
- family’s economic stability
Most respondents have “infrequent” community involvement, but show an interest in more involvement. Most are familiar with the Rotary brand, & our club, but may not distinguish it from other local clubs, & are not necessarily aware of what we do with funds raised by Rotary. Facebook is the most popular “communication channel,” followed by email & Instagram.
Eric says we should conclude from this last bit of information that we should more proactively use Facebook and other social media channels than our website to draw attention to our club. He suggests we consider using a tool like Hootsuite, which makes it easy to populate multiple social media sites with the same message(s).
Eric, Dave W & Calvin have discussed numerous ways our club might broaden our appeal, reduce barriers to membership, & help more people understand our role, our goals, & how they might be involved with us.
Members were left with a list of ideas for discussion in mid-January.
