Leighs Resignation

Leigh Hewer, Long-Time VSSRotary Member Retires

May 10, 2022

(10 May 2022) Today, after more than 21 years of service to the greater Vernon area and the world as a member of Vernon Silver Star Rotary, we have mixed emotions at the news that our own Leigh Hewer will be retiring from Rotary. After serving as the longest running Secretary to the club and as a Director at Large, Leigh will be spending more time with his wife Marilyn and their grandchildren.

While we are excited for Leigh to have more personal time with family and friends, we will miss his wit, passion, intelligence, and comradery that he brought to every VSSRotary meeting and event.

"Leigh has been both a leader and an inspiration to many of us at Rotary, and he will be missed. He has been indispensable to Executive committee for years. But we expect to see Leigh around town and still out there making an effort to keep the greater Vernon area the best place to live and raise family," said Teresa Durning-Harker, VSSRotary club President.

Leigh has been instrumental in many of the programs VSSRotary has undertaken throughout the North Okanagan and the world. We will be challenged to carry-on his legacy of Service Above Self, but are confident he's mentored us all well.

Don't be a stranger Leigh. You're always welcome to check-in and keep us on track.
