Silver Star Rotary Completes Community Survey

Dec 28, 2021

In an effort to better understand how it can support the greater Vernon area community, the Vernon Silver Star Rotary has completed a thorough survey of community members regarding their interests, concerns, and communication preferences.

The survey ran for approximately 1 month in October and early November, and explored topics such as demographics of the household, primary interests and concerns, current community activity and volunteerism, and preferred forms of communication and information gathering including social media.

"We were thrilled with the response rate" indicated Eric Gombrich, member of the Club. He continued, "We had over 70 responses across multiple age and other demographic groups, providing us a great cross-sectional perspective of the community."

Some of the key indicators from the survey included:

  • Community involvement, both current and desired in the future, is of high interest to a majority of respondents
  • Personal and Family economics are top of mind for most people, as we face the uncertainty of fall-out from the pandemic
  • Social Media channels are the preferred forms of information gathering, led not surprisingly by Facebook utilization

According to Dave Weatherill, President of the Vernon Silver Star Rotary "We are really encouraged by the community's enthusiasm for participation in activities that will keep Vernon one of the best places to live in the world. Supporting one-another and the environment in which we live, particularly in times of need, is the cornerstone of why Rotary exists, and what is crucial to a thriving community. We will be using the information from the Survey in the coming weeks to update our 2022 strategy, goals, and objectives to ensure we are supporting and delivering the programs and services the greater Vernon area needs to continue to be the place we love."
