VSSRotarians Help Everywhere They Can

Our own Govind Deol was recognized for his efforts to strengthen his own home-town community by helping youth come together and get active at L.A. Matheson school in Surrey, BC. While not in the greater Vernon area of the north Okanagan where Vernon Silver Star Rotary is based, Govind exemplifies the Rotary way by living "Service Above Self."

The more than 42,000 Rotary clubs around the world tend to initially focus on the needs of their local communities first, but then often times extend the great work they do locally to other communities around the world.

"Govind may be a poster-representative of Rotary," said Eric Gombrich, President-Elect for VSSRotary. Eric continued, "He lives a charitable life not just through his work as a Rotarian, but in other efforts at UBCO in Kelowna, and in his daily life. This is just another example of that, and I'm honored to know Govind as a friend and have been his sponsor to our club."

Govind is a student at UBCO in Kelowna and intends to make 'giving back' a part of his life in whatever he pursues for a career. This summer job and how it has culminated in his support of Camp Next at L.A. Matheson.
