VSSRotary Welcomes Longstanding Rotarian, Gene Vickers as Newest Member
Jun 6, 2023
Today, June 6th, 2023 we were thrilled to swear-in our newest member, Gene Vickers.
Gene Vickers has been a Rotarian since the late 70’s. He is a multiple Paul Harris Award recipient, and has been a speaker for literally 100’s of Rotary, Rotaract, Interact, RYLA, and many other Rotary clubs and programs.
Gene was a presenter at President Elect Training Seminar in Seattle for 18 consecutive years. Under his tenure as the District 5050 Club Extension Chair the District had the second highest growth of new clubs of any District in the World. He has been an Assistant Governor for 3 years, District Membership Chair for 3 years, and if he had remained in Pitt Meadows he would have been the District Governor Nominee for District 5050.
In his own community, Gene was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year for the Tri Cities (WA), Volunteer of the Year for the Tri Cities, and Mr. Millennium for the Tri Cities. He is also active in Toastmasters. In fact Gene is the incoming District Director of District 21 of Toastmasters which represents over half of British Columbia.
Gene has been married to his wife Heather for 47 years, and together they have 4 kids; Chris (44), Brianna (42), and twins Brittany & Celeste (37). Gene is a former member of the RCMP beginning in 1979. After this time he was in automotive sales until he retired in March of this year (2023). For 3 years Gene was the number 1 Ford Lease Renewal Specialist in Western Canada. Gene and Heather moved to Vernon 1 month ago and he is ready to roll up his sleeves for Grand Children, Rotary & Toastmasters.
It is a true privilege to have Gene join us, and we anticipate his experience, knowledge, and infectious energy will help contribute to VSSRotary's continually growing impact in our community.
Welcome Gene!
