Dr. Craig Elden Goplen
July 12, 1959 - March 2, 2025
In loving memory ~
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Craig Elden Goplen on March 2, 2025, at the age of 65. Craig was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and community leader.
Born on July 12, 1959, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Craig grew up on 17 Kirk Crescent — a vibrant neighborhood where lifelong memories were made, and a deep sense of family and community was fostered. His upbringing instilled the values of kindness, generosity, and hard work that would guide him throughout his life.
After graduating from dental school, Craig and his wife, Judie, moved to Vernon, B.C., where they built their life together and raised their three children, Katie (Matt), Michael (Monique), and Laura (Miles) and their four grandchildren Connor, Logan, Stevie and Sunny.
Craig established a thriving dental practice in Vernon, where his gentle care made him a trusted and cherished dentist to many. Many of his wonderful team stayed together throughout the entire 40 years of his practice. Outside of dentistry, Craig had a deep passion for fitness. For over 40 years, Craig was a dedicated triathlete, competing with heart, determination, and remarkable success.
Craig's heart for service extended far beyond his professional life. As a decades-long member of the Vernon Silver Star Rotary Club, he dedicated countless hours to giving back to the community he loved. He was especially proud of his involvement in the Queen Silver Star program and the cherished Father-Daughter Balls, events that strengthened community bonds and created lasting memories.
Craig will be remembered not only for his remarkable achievements and community spirit but for the way he showed up — with love in his heart, a helping hand, and a deep pride in the family he built.
Craig is also survived by his loving mother, Henrietta, and his brothers, Gary (Nancy) and Gord (Sondra), all of whom shared a lifelong bond built on love and respect.
Craig's love for his family was his guiding light. His devotion to Judie, his children, and his grandchildren defined him more than any medal or accolade ever could. His legacy will live on through them — in every boat ride, every cup of (cold) hot chocolate, and every simple act of kindness.
A celebration of life will be held at the Coldstream Community Hall on May 4, 2025 at 2 pm.
